چکیده

Introduction Cortico-striato-thalamo-cortical interconnections are thought to be organized in anatomically and functionally segregated loops. The tripartite model proposes their division into pure motor, associative and limbic portions. In analogy, anatomical studies revealed subdivision of the involved brain structures: in cortex and striatum pure motor areas are located posterior to associative areas. Functional imaging of the distinct circuits has been attempted, mostly by varying motor characteristics known to be specific for one of the circuits. However, a functional mapping of corticostriatal projections is still lacking.

Functional connectivity patterns of autism spectrum disorder identified by deep feature learning

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is regarded as a brain disease with globally disrupted neuronal networks. Even though fMRI studies have revealed abnormal functional connectivity in ASD, they have not reached a consensus of the disrupted patterns. Here, a deep learning-based feature extraction method identifies multivariate and nonlinear functional connectivity patterns of ASD. Resting-state fMRI...

Using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to explore brain function: cortical representations of language critical areas

Pre-operative determination of the dominant hemisphere for speech and speech associated sensory and motor regions has been of great interest for the neurological surgeons. This dilemma has been of at most importance, but difficult to achieve, requiring either invasive (Wada test) or non-invasive methods (Brain Mapping). In the present study we have employed functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging...

Altered striatal functional connectivity in subjects with an at-risk mental state for psychosis.

Recent functional imaging work in individuals experiencing an at-risk mental state (ARMS) for psychosis has implicated dorsal striatal abnormalities in the emergence of psychotic symptoms, contrasting with earlier findings implicating the ventral striatum. Our aims here were to characterize putative dorsal and ventral striatal circuit-level abnormalities in ARMS individuals using resting-state ...

Integrating fMRI data into 3D conventional radiotherapy treatmentplanning of brain tumors

Introduction: This study was aimed to investigate the beneficial effects of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data in treatment planning for patients with CNS tumors in order to decrease the injury of functional regions of the brain followed by increase in life quality and survival of patients. This study pursues a novel approach in planning for the treatment of brai...
